Epileptic Seizure

A patient presents to the emergency department with a severe right sided headache that began acutely two hours prior. The learner must perform an initial assessment during which the patient will show worsening confusion and, eventually, will have a generalized tonic-clonic seizure. The learner must treat the seizure with benzodiazepines, roll the patient on their side, and ensure the patient maintains an airway. After proper treatment of the seizure, the learner should order basic tests including a CT scan which will show a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Finally, the learner will provide a clear handoff to the senior physician explaining their evaluation and findings.
