This case is designed as a semi-annual refresher to be completed in the time between bi-annual ACLS and BLS recertifications. Participants will work to provide compressions, medications, electrical therapy and airway interventions to cardiac arrest and peri-arrest patients. The setting is a standard ER room with the patient in a hospital bed and several staff members available.
Learning Objectives:
1. Review ACLS and BLS algorithms for treating different cardiac rhythms.
2. Describe the importance of pharmacological and electrical therapy in dysrhythmias.
3. Demonstrate the appropriate care for an adult cardiac patient using current Red Cross guidelines.
