Virtual Reality Simulated Patient Encounters

Air Methods ACLS

This case is designed as a semi-annual refresher to be completed in the time between bi-annual ACLS and BLS recertifications. Participants will work to provide compressions, medications, electrical therapy and airway interventions to cardiac arrest and peri-arrest patients. The setting is a standard ER room with the patient in a hospital bed and several staff members available. The patient will progress through several unstable rhythms and the learner must be able to apply full ACLS knowledge to navigate the scenario properly.

Learning Objectives

‘- Review ACLS and BLS algorithms for treating different cardiac rhythms
– Recognize and treat unstable rhythms
– Describe the importance of pharmacological and electrical therapy in dysrhythmias
– Demonstrate the appropriate care for an adult cardiac patient using current Red Cross guidelines
