COVID-19 Inpatient

Patricia Thompson is a 40 year old white female postal worker. She initially presented to the emergency department with a complaint of shortness of breath after experiencing fever and a cough for 2 weeks. Patient is a smoker with a history of congestive heart failure, hypertension and asthma and emergency department testing confirmed COVID+. She was admitted to a med-surg unit due to persistent hypoxia requiring 2L NC. The student will have to don PPE in the appropriate order, perform a focused assessment, and notify the respiratory therapist about a change in the patient’s status.
