Field case in a structure, where the patient has sustained a blunt eye injury after an accident/MVA, along with minor injuries an hour ago. Player must recognize concern for orbital compartment syndrome (increased IOP – firm eye, proptosis, decreased visual acuity, afferent pupillary defect) and indication for lateral canthotomy. Player must perform lateral canthotomy.
Learning Objectives:
1. Perform primary survey and identify all injuries.
2. Recognize red flags of compartment syndrome.
3. Perform a stepwise approach to lateral canthotomy procedure.
