Patient De-escalation

Involves multiple staff members and one client. The client would be displaying some anxious behaviours, pacing or seated tapping their foot, sighing out of frustration, etc. One staff member would approach the client and attempt to be supportive. The client would express that they weren’t provided any additional snack and become angry, yelling and raised fists blaming all staff members attempting to restrict the client. Client would then attempt to strike the staff or in an outward motion and move about. Anticipated response would be for the staff to block/move, the client would continue with their attempts to strike staff until other staff became involved and CPI team approach would be utilized.
