Pericardiocentesis

The setting is an emergency department bay and the patient is a middle aged Caucasian man. Immediately upon arrival, the participant is briefed by a bedside nurse about the patient condition, the necessity of a pericardiocentesis procedure, and the availability of equipment at the bedside. The participant then engages in the discrete steps of the procedure. If a step is missed, the participant is informed about the deficiency and is prompted to start the procedure again until they are able to successful complete all steps in the appropriate order.
