SimX and CHAKRA Sign Strategic MOU to Advance VR-Based Medical Training in Maharashtra
SimX, a global leader in virtual reality (VR) simulation training for healthcare professionals, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Centre for Health, Applied Knowledge and Research Autonomy (CHAKRA), a pioneering initiative of the Government of Maharashtra’s Medical Education and Drugs Department (MEDD). The agreement marks a significant step toward transforming medical education and training across the State of Maharashtra.
The MOU was formally signed by Mr. Martijn Boosman, Director of International Sales at SimX, and Brigadier (Dr) Subodh Digambar Mulgund, SM (Retd), at PULSE 2026, a flagship healthcare summit held from March 27–28, 2026, at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.
Under this collaboration, SimX and CHAKRA will work closely to enhance the education and training of healthcare professionals by leveraging the state-of-the-art SimX VR simulation platform. The initiative aims to make medical training more realistic, accessible, and aligned with Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) standards.

SimX’s platform, recognized as the world’s leading VR training solution for medical professionals, is currently used by hundreds of medical and nursing training organizations globally. Through this partnership, CHAKRA will integrate advanced simulation technologies into its network of Centers of Excellence, supporting its mission to promote excellence in medical education, advance research, and improve patient care outcomes across Maharashtra.
A key aspect of the partnership is the exchange of knowledge between medical educators in Maharashtra and global experts, fostering innovation and best practices in healthcare training.
In the further implementation of VR-based training across the state, SimX will collaborate closely with its Global Implementation Partner, Laerdal Medical, to ensure effective deployment, training, and scalability.
Dr. Ryan Ribeira, CEO of SimX and Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Stanford University, commented:
“We are proud and excited to be partnering with CHAKRA on this groundbreaking initiative, and look forward to partnering with the brilliant educators in Maharashtra in pushing forward the future of healthcare training in India.”
Dr. Ranjana Kumar, CEO of CHAKRA, added:
“The collaboration with the global leader in the field of VR medical training allows us to achieve the ambitious advances in healthcare and technology which the Leadership of the State of Maharashtra have set out to achieve.“

PULSE 2026, the venue for the signing, is a major healthcare summit and strategic initiative launched by the Government of Maharashtra, focused on advancing healthcare, technology, and policy, and strengthening the state’s medical ecosystem.
This partnership represents a forward-looking step in harnessing cutting-edge technology to build a more skilled, responsive, and future-ready healthcare workforce in Maharashtra.
