Ricky Alvarez, a 13-year-old Native American male with poorly managed type 1 diabetes, presented to the emergency department with a foot wound infection and possible hyperglycemia. After initial treatment, he was admitted for IV antibiotics, diabetes management, and teaching. During this scenario, learners must prioritize and implement nursing interventions for an adolescent patient.
