Patients in relationships where domestic violence exists are at risk for injury and health problems. The lack of knowledge and training in domestic violence may contribute to the inability of providers to recognize and correctly interpret behaviors associated with domestic violence.
1. Triage the care of the client by performing a rapid general assessment including vital signs, level of consciousness, looking for signs of physical alterations
2. Evaluate the client’s traumatic injury of burns and smoke inhalation and respond with priority nursing interventions
3. Collaborate with the interprofessional team to identify services to meet the acute needs of the client/family
