Virtual Reality Simulated Patient Encounters

Reset

Scenario Description

In this scenario, learners will care for a 29-year-old G1P0 patient in a Labor & Delivery setting who has a diagnosis of severe preeclampsia, and learners will implement seizure precautions, recognize clinical deterioration despite Magnesium Sulfate prophylaxis, and manage an eclamptic seizure, including post-ictal stabilization and assessment for Magnesium toxicity.

This scenario has been designed for a moderatorless experience.

Learning Objectives

1. Prioritize environmental safety interventions for a patient with severe preeclampsia.
2. Analyze clinical trends to predict an imminent eclamptic seizure.
3. Demonstrate immediate nursing actions during an active eclamptic seizure to maintain patient safety and airway patency.
4. Distinguish between eclamptic seizure activity and Magnesium Sulfate toxicity through focused neurovascular and respiratory assessments.
5. Utilize SBAR communication to report maternal-fetal status and prioritized interventions to the healthcare provider.
