Scenario Description

In this scenario, the patient is a 60 year old male with a history of HTN, CAD, and hyperlipidemia. He came to the hospital with symptoms of UTI. Learners must successfully assess the patient, recognize any abnormal findings, and respond with appropriate care. Throughout the scenario, learners must also communicate effectively with both the patient and other healthcare providers.

Learning Objectives

– Demonstrate evidenced based care of a patient with symptoms of UTI and BPH

– Assess patient to identify normal and abnormal findings

– Demonstrate assessment and vital signs

– Educate patient about the process of urine collection

– Ensure patient and healthcare worker safety

– Utilize therapeutic communication techniques

– Apply SBAR for communication to provider
