Scenario Description

Mr. Simmons is a 60 year old male with a history of HTN, CAD, and hyperlipidemia. He is in the office for a routine checkup and becomes diaphoretic, complaining of chest and arm pain.

 

Learning Objectives

Demonstrate evidenced based care of a patient with symptoms of acute MI

– Assess patient to identify normal and abnormal findings

– Demonstrate assessment and vital signs

– Recognizing order for ECG and evaluating results to report to provider

– Ensure patient and healthcare worker safety

– Demonstrate prioritization and decision making for patient with acute MI

– Utilize therapeutic communication techniques

– Apply SBAR for communication to provider
