Scenario Description

This scenario begins with a midwife who is in the process of delivering the patient’s baby. The learner is asked to take over patient care as the situation turns complicated and the patient begins to lose a lot of blood. The learner needs to check if the baby is okay as well as recognize the signs of postpartum hemorrhage. Over the course of the scenario, the patient will continue to lose blood and the learner must give ergometrine, misoprostol, tranexamic acid, carboprost, and blood products in order to resuscitate the patient. With proper resuscitation, the patient does well and the learner will hand them off to the medical team for further care.
