In this scenario, a 34 year-old male is involved in a climbing accident after a rock fall cut his rope. The flight crew has arrived prior to any other first responders. The patient has sustained multiple traumatic injuries and is hemodynamically unstable when the flight crew arrives. The learner must perform a primary survey, discover tension pneumothorax, hemorrhage control of the unstable pelvic fracture, and perform a secondary survey. If learners do not perform these critical actions, the patient will go into cardiac arrest. However, the learner will have a second chance to fix critical actions and possibly move on, otherwise, the patient remains in PEA arrest and will die.

– Correctly identify and address all life threats (Epidural Bleed, Internal Bleeding due to Pelvic Fracture, Airway Compromise, and Tension Pneumothorax)
– Demonstrate appropriate fluid and blood administration
– Perform RSI according to patient care guidelines, including the use of the RSI checklist
