Cecil Whitver is a 78-year-old African-American male with a history of depression diagnosed after the death of his wife 2 months ago. He was admitted to the inpatient medical-surgical unit and started on IV fluids for a medical diagnosis of dehydration. During this scenario, learners must assess, intervene, and manage care for a patient experiencing major depression.
